Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Explorers and Planners groups.
Audiences can anticipate discovering which players will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
