19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional title, took control to push for a decider.

He defended four initial opportunities in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
